Pictorialism
Pictorialism was one of the first major art movements in photography. It's practitioners were trying to prove that photography was an art form, and not just a mechanical process.
Pictorialism was popular throughout the late 1800's until the early 1900's. It was later superseded by Modernism. One of the leaders of the Pictorialism movement was Alfred Stieglitz, we'll talk much more about him later.
